Body Image Group for Girls
For middle school girls who are ready to go from being self-conscious to self-confident without sacrificing what makes them unique
What is Body Image and Why is it Important?
The term “body image” refers to the thoughts, feelings, and perceptions you have about your body and your comfortability within your own skin.
Poor body image and low self-esteem in adolescents can lead to eating disorders, depression, anxiety, substance use and other high-risk behaviors.
Studies have found that at age thirteen, 53% of American girls are "unhappy with their bodies." This grows to 78% by the time girls reach seventeen (source).
